Liquid Cooling Consulting

Schedule a Consultation

Our Consultation

Alcatex provides a focused Liquid and Immersion Cooling consultation for data center owners and operators planning HPC, modern workloads and AI infrastructure. The engagement evaluates cooling strategy, infrastructure readiness, and project risk before major capital is committed.

AI compute has moved rack densities beyond the range conventional air cooling can support. Current and near-term GPU platforms, including the B200, GB200, and GB300 generations, require liquid cooling in some form. The question is no longer whether to adopt it, but which approach fits a given site, workload, and growth plan. Immersion, direct-to-chip, and hybrid configurations each carry distinct implications for power, mechanical systems, facility design, operations, and cost. The consultation identifies the appropriate approach and the associated risks early, while changes remain inexpensive to make.

The Consultation Scope

Cooling Strategy

Immersion, direct-to-chip, and hybrid options evaluated against workload density and facility constraints.

GPU Platform and Density

Alignment of the cooling approach with the intended GPU roadmap and rack-density targets.

Power and Mechanical Infrastructure

Electrical and mechanical requirements imposed by the selected cooling method.

Facility and Site Readiness

Space, structural capacity, water availability, and heat-rejection considerations.

Costs & Efficiency

CAPEX implications, PUE, and total-cost comparisons across cooling options.

Risk Analysis

The conditions most likely to affect project schedule, cost, or customer adoption.

Cooling Approaches We Evaluate

Alcatex is vendor-neutral and evaluates each approach on its merits for the specific project:

  • Single-phase immersion. Full submersion of hardware in dielectric fluid. High thermal capacity with comparatively straightforward fluid management.
  • Direct-to-chip (cold plate). Coolant delivered directly to processor cold plates, typically alongside air cooling for the remaining components. Suited to phased density increases and facilities transitioning from air.
  • Hybrid configurations. Combinations of the above matched to mixed workloads or staged deployments, often the practical path for existing sites.

Selection depends on target density, retrofit versus greenfield conditions, water and heat-rejection options, serviceability, and long-term roadmap.

Deliverables

  •  A recommended cooling strategy for the site, with supporting rationale.
  • A prioritized summary of project risks and single points of failure.
  • A high-level view of cost and efficiency trade-offs across options.
  • A defined basis for the next phase: detailed design, procurement, and/or deployment.
